These characters

living inside my head

in their world of sand

and ice,

volcanoes and rock forests,

are all the best and worst

I know of humanity.

Close to me always,

they are my heroes,

my demons,

my soul mates,

my spirit twins.

Purring vibrations under my hand,

my fingers touching

silk hair, angora, I think,

this creature has no motive

save affection and food.

He has no pretense

other than the

black and white coat

with which he was born.
