not repeating the rumor,
keeping negative thoughts
to the journal,

refusing to believe
the disgraceful until
evidence is solid,

daring to see beauty
where others see mundane
maybe this is the beginning
of empathy

  2. weekdaypoet – around and about – "There's no such thing as writer's block for writers whose standards are low enough." -- William Stafford Amateur writers aren't necessarily bad writers. But they are, almost by definition, the sort of writers that procrastinate on their magnum opus. Ever since leaving high school and entering the "real world," I've written maybe five poems. And good ones! But only five. That's pathetic. You can't even call yourself a poet with output like that. I'm overcoming the fear of writing and its accompanying rationalization that "I don't have the time to put in the effort my genius ideas require" by the One Day One Poem blog. Because, at the end of this year, I'd rather have 100 mediocre poems and a handful of good ones than nothing at all.
